Research Proposal Idea Vlog

The following video contains a proposed research idea I have for researching more about the true educational value of ebooks.

  1. Michael,

If you ever have to do research, I think that you should carry out this proposal. The research question is interesting. I like that you acknowledged that previous studies were based on student perception, but not on actual experimental data. I am a math teacher and I like numbers; they speak louder than words to me (sometimes). I do think that the research on student perceptions should be included in your background of your project because I think that their experiences are part of the "big picture." I do not have an e-reader, but I do like them. My main motivation for the purchase of an e-reader and e-books is cost. Do you think that would be one of your findings in the experiment? Do you hypothesize that students are motivated by cost? When you are researching effectiveness, how do you plan on measuring it or are you measuring motivation? If motivation, are you using surveys?

I enjoyed your blog video and you speak well. Great job! Much more entertaining to watch than my post-gym video:)

    Take care,

    Tiffany

  2. Michael,

I hadn't even considered the motivational aspect of ebooks as a study topic. What aspect of motivation are you looking at, practical issues like cost or more feeling/opinion issues like portability and interactivity? I echo Tiffany's question about how to test for this. It seems like a fascinating concept to approach, but I'm just not sure how it actually gets handled in a way that is actually quantifiable.
